# Where to try the best monas and Valencian dishes for Easter Week

It’s true that during Holy Week and Easter we have to do some fasting and abstinence, we know that. Both the more religious and the rest of us mortals are aware of this because the dreaded moment of the first swimsuit-bikini is knocking at the door. However, these holidays are **the most gastronomic of the year**, at least in Valencia. Here, Easter tastes like panquemao, mona, sultana and walnut cakes, Easter sausage, cod fritters, titaina pepito, stew, Lent cod and torrijas (French toast). Or does it? And how can you resist?

Well, since it’s impossible, go big and enjoy, you’ve earned it. We have the list of where you can buy the best Easter sweets, according to the competition organised every year by the Guild of Bakers and Confectioners of Valencia, and also some **exquisite proposals of traditional Easter recipes** and **the restaurants where you have to go to try them**. ## The Best Easter monas

This year you will find the best Easter monas in these award-winning bakeries:

- Vicente García Rutia. Reino de València, 6
- San Antonio bakery. Central Market, stall 325
- Forn Llatzer. Aparicio Albiñana, 5

For panquemaos these:

- Vicente García Rutia. Reino de València, 6
- Panquemados Moscardó. Avda. Glorieta, 30 (Alberic)
- Horno San Antonio. Turia, 4 (San Antonio de Benagéber)

And the sultana and walnut cakes here:
